Waco Spotlight: Summer In Waco

The Texas heat is finally settling in for good and students are a buzz about the end of the school year– it’s summer time in Waco, Texas. Let the live music scene and sunshine filled days begin! But, if you find yourself asking “What are we going to do today?", let us help you out. Here are just a few of our favorite summer Waco activities:

Brazos Nights If you have a deep appreciation for live music and good company, look no further than Brazos Nights. The event is held every month along the riverfront of the Brazos, and there is no shortage of good food and family fun– you’ll find an abundance of food trucks open and street carnival style fun!

The Farmer’s Market A true Waco classic, that never disappoints– the Waco Farmer’s Market provides good food, good eats, and a true sense of community for it’s patrons from 9am-1pm every Saturday morning and again on Tuesday afternoon from 3pm-7pm. Come ready to be overwhelmed by the amount of goodness there is to choose from– you will not leave empty-handed, or hungry.

Waco Artist Market After you stop by The Farmer’s Market you can head on over to the Waco Artist Market– a space filled with fine artist vendors and live entertainment from noon-6pm every Saturday. As a new addition to the Waco events scene, the market promises not to disappoint.

First Fridays Waco A true WacoTown original, First Friday Waco celebrates the growth in our flourishing city. Every month, downtown Waco is filled with festivities as small business owners keep their doors open late and provide deals, treats, and entertainment for shoppers.

Parks and Recreation Events Our list wouldn’t be complete without pointing you to the City of Waco's events page. Our little city has events popping up all over the place and this is the best place to keep up with them. Some of our favorites include the Juneteenth Carnival and the Fourth on the Brazos festivities– you don't want to miss these.

Day Trip Ideas If you have an itch for adventure though, you might want to take advantage of Waco’s prime coordinates and take a day trip to a nearby hot spot. Maybe you’ll consider Tonkawa Falls, a nearby waterfall, or our neighboring town of McGregor. Maybe you'll go cliff jumping at Lake Whitney, or check out the Waco Mammoth Site– a national monument in our own backyard! Whatever it is, it’s only a stone throw away to adventure.
