3 Simple Tips to Improve Email Marketing 12/17/15 | Four Columns Marketing Email marketing is a great way to communicate and inform your target audience. It’s also one of the most cost effective elements of marketing. We recently shared how to measure if your email campaigns are successful by measuring various analytics. Below we offer three simple tips to help you make the best email marketing campaign possible. The goal of sending an email campaign is for your audience to open your email and to actually read the content. People are bombarded with dozens of emails every day. What will set yours apart from the rest? We have some tips on getting your email to stand out and get results. Get their attention The best way to do this right away is to focus on the subject line. This is the first thing your reader sees and will likely determine if they will open it or not. It’s important to be authentic and to not create a false sense of urgency. We see this all the time with subjects such as “LAST DAY TO SAVE”, “ BETTER HURRY”, etc. This usually does the opposite of its intentions, and leads to an automatic delete. Think about your audiences needs, and cater to that. Tell them what they gain from opening your email. Make sure it is relevant and personal. It shouldn’t seem like a mass-email. It’s also a good idea to keep it brief. Tell readers what to do next Communicate to your readers exactly what you want them to do. Whether it is to sign up for a webinar or register for a conference, make sure it is 100% clear and direct. This will increase the chance that they actually do it. It is also a good idea to include a link or calendar invitation to make it even easier for the reader. Don’t overwhelm Keep it simple. A ton of copy will lead to your reader to simply skim your email and probably miss the point. Keep it concise and use short paragraphs. You want to keep your audience’s interest! Your copy should also always have a point and provide value to your customers. In the end, if you follow these three simple tips, you will be on your way to creating an effective email marketing campaign. Get strategic when using this marketing strategy; when used thoughtfully and intentionally, email marketing can increase sales and build brand loyalty for your business.
