One Rebrand, Twice the Revenue

How Four Columns rebranded a fluid dynamics firm and built the marketing engine that more than doubled its revenue and took it worldwide.

The Need

B&W Fluid Dynamics had built a strong reputation in fluid dynamics and pre-commissioning services, but by 2014, the company had outgrown its identity. The name and branding were built for a smaller company at an earlier stage, and they were ready for something that reflected what they actually were and where they were headed. That fall, B&W came to Four Columns to address it — starting with a complete rebrand from the ground up.

The Work

Four Columns moved fast, leading B&W through the entire rebrand in five months. That process started with the name itself, working with leadership to find something that captured the company’s full service offering and signaled a global operation. The result was B&W Energy Services: broader, more accurate, and built to travel. From there, every brand touchpoint was rebuilt to match.

Beginning in early 2015, Four Columns took over all marketing functions, operating as B&W’s outsourced marketing partner alongside its leadership. The focus from the start was lead generation — converting brand authority into a consistent pipeline of legitimate project opportunities. Four Columns also developed a concise and effective way to tell the stories of projects B&W had completed, communicating its capabilities in a way that resonated with clients and reflected well on B&W.

To close the loop between marketing and sales, Four Columns fully implemented HubSpot CRM for B&W’s sales team and built a complete integration between marketing activity and the CRM — giving leadership attribution on their marketing investment and a clearer view of their pipeline. 

As B&W’s footprint expanded, so did the scope of the partnership. Mega projects in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Kazakhstan led to new international entities and regional partnerships, and Four Columns continued to support the marketing infrastructure behind that growth.

The rebrand gave B&W the platform to compete at a level its previous identity couldn’t support. Executive leadership has directly credited the step-change in brand and marketing as a key driver of the company’s growth trajectory since 2015.

Before Four Columns, B&W had zero inbound leads from marketing. Within months, it had a steady flow of legitimate project opportunities coming in every month that its sales team was actively following up on and closing. Part of what drove that pipeline was an early and aggressive investment in SEO. Within two years, Four Columns had B&W ranking on page one for 34 out of 35 targeted service keywords. For 11 of those keywords, B&W held multiple top-3 positions simultaneously. These were legitimate, high-intent service keywords, not just brand name searches. 

That growth compounded over time. B&W more than doubled its annual revenue, pushed competitors out of core markets, and used its strengthened market position to pursue acquisitions and open new locations. Today, B&W Energy Services has completed projects in over 25 countries — a global pre-commissioning and commissioning contractor that looks and operates the part.
