4C Client Work: E-commerce and Product Photography

09/15/16

|

It has been a beautiful whirlwind of hard work and productivity these past couple of weeks at 4C. All hands were on deck to bring one of our newest clients, The Findery, to the next level. Although our work with The Findery is multi-faceted, our first order of business was a complete website overhaul that included building an e-commerce storefront.

Our web and communications teams have been deeply involved in the intricate process of creating a beautiful yet high-functioning website– there is so much more to an online store than meets the eye. From product photography to shipping logistics, our team has carried this project to completion.

Product photography, may sound like a no brainer, but it is not for the faint of heart. It is a detailed process, beginning with putting online products in an excel sheet and logging out the specifics needed for each one– weight, dimension, stock, and what box would be used for each. After these logistics were documented, the visual side of things came into play. Our challenges moved from detailed documentation to lighting and staging. This was a critical point in the process– shopping is visually driven, so when executing this product photography aesthetics were of major importance. We weighed angles and staging options for each product, thinking deliberately about what was important in each product to showcase. After each image was captured they were edited to fix lighting and cropped to specific dimension to optimize loading speeds on the website. And Voila! We had an image to create a product listing on The Findery’s e-store.

Yet, no matter how beautiful our products were, there would be no benefit if the site was not functional and search engine optimized. Our web team worked tirelessly to create a user-friendly experience for online shoppers– organizing content into categories, tagging product to help users find more product options easily, and embedding keywords into each page so that internet users would be able to find our site!

So in a quick five minute read you’ve gotten a taste of the incredible work that our team is accomplishing! We love the privilege of working alongside our clients and are looking forward at all that is ahead. So stay tuned for more because this isn’t all folks!
